Loeb Institute for Religious Freedom and Democracy Graduate Travel Grant
The Loeb Institute for Religious Freedom and Democracy graduate travel grants defray the cost of academic travel for Columbian College of Arts and Sciences PhD and MA students working on projects related to religious freedom, religious toleration, church/state relations, the contribution of religion to civil society and more.
Grant funding may be used for a variety of applications:
- Visit an archive, repository of artifacts or other research location
- Conduct interviews or other direct observation
- Present papers at a national or international conference related to their academic area or dissertation research
Eligibility
Graduate travel grants are limited to PhD and MA students in select disciplines:
- American Studies
- Anthropology
- Art History
- Economics
- English
- History
- Islamic Studies
- Judaic Studies
- Political Science
- Psychology
- Public Policy and Public Administration
Applications must receive the endorsement of the student’s academic advisor.
Funding
The travel grants are competitive and typically range between $300 and $1,000. Requests for up to $2,000 will be considered in exceptional cases.
The number of awards is limited by available funding.
Deadlines and Application Instructions
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis but must be received at least one month before the travel will take place.
